Additional Support for Families

Here are some links for, and some information on additional support that is available to all families.

Help with Living Costs Norfolk County Council, alongside local councils across Norfolk, is aiming to support as many residents as possible to access financial and other support if they are facing hardship. They know for many people there will be challenges for a variety of reasons. There will be a lot of people who will need help with things like paying the bills and buying food, and many people who have never needed help before. You can access further information about this support here. If you need any help applying for this then we are happy to help you.

Healthy Start -
If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk.
If you’re eligible, you’ll be sent a Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in some UK shops. We’ll add your benefit onto this card every 4 weeks. Further information can be found here.

The Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) provides hardship support to Norfolk residents, and this offer is being extended to reach more people where needed, over the winter period. The offer uses an additional government grant that is primarily aimed at families with children. Norfolk Assistance Scheme

Family Learning - Provided by Norfolk County Council, they deliver courses both online and face to face delivery, many of our sessions are available in libraries across Norfolk. Further information is available here.

Breastfeeding Support - Important information about feeding your baby can be found here.

Growkids - Growkids is a project run by volunteers from the local community and from Gateway Vineyard Church. They give away FREE clothing and equipment for babies and children up to age 12.

No referral is needed – absolutely anyone in Norfolk can request an appointment to come and take clothing and/or equipment, and they also work alongside charities such as Leeway, and professionals such as social workers and health visitors.

They stock new and ‘lightly’ preloved clothes, maternity clothes, slings, and equipment such as bouncers, buggies, cots, moses baskets, nappies etc. They also have school uniform, bedding, shoes, PE kit etc

At the moment they are running a Click and Collect service where families can book a slot, and their volunteers pack thee orders, and then the families collect them from their HQ at Trowse Sports Hall on a Wednesday morning.

Families just need to ‘like’ and ‘follow’ Growkids on Facebook or Instagram (@growkidsnorwich). They release a booking link at the end of each week which families can use to book a collection slot for the following Wednesday.

If families are really struggling with transport to Trowse then it can always be arranged for a drop off of the items for our families to  Kinchen Hall, or to your home.
